Can anyone help me - I started on this diet about 2.5 weeks ago. In the first 10 days I lost 3lb and was happy with it.I'd like to lose 10-15lb total. I enjoy simple meals, all the veggies and fruits. However, once I am home during the weekend and have to bring kids to bday parties or host a dinner at home for friends, I fall of the wagon.
I can't say no to sweets, wine and sometimes bread. How do you handle social situations? How do i stay away from sweets, wine and bread?
Thanks for your suggestions.

Cellen, that's great!

I wasn't aware of Mrs. Dash's products. I would look for them in the grocery store.

Thank you....

Gits, there is Mrs. Dash in the spices grocery aisle, and there are quite a few "flavors" of it to choose from...these are salt-free and have a variety of spices in them to spice up any meal and give it flavor. It's not as tough as you might think!

Bragg's liquid amino sprayed onto food. Soy sauce. Lemon lime juice. Plum sauce. Bbq. Or ketchup or mustard. Just about any condiment. Even worcestire and hot sauce. Only the first three days or so will you miss the salt. After that period it is not nearly as hard.

Planning to start this diet soon but avoiding salt looks a bit tougher to me. Can anyone suggest anything that can replace salt and still add flavor to the meal?

THe idea is to change your lifestyle eating coices. Not just diet. So, if you are already at an ideal weight, don't worry about the 6 week plan. If you are not, then Dr. Fuhrman recommends eatiung at least 50% raw veg/fruit a day which can be eaten with or without cooked veg. and/or cooked grain. He wants us to get back to aas much whole food as is possible. For example, if making a smoothie that needs to be sweetened, he recommends using a date or banana to sweeten it.

If you are starving/ravenous, then you are probably not getting enough calories and should incorporate more of the nuts/seeds/fruit and cooked/veg/grains into your plan. THe above guidelines can not be perfect for every single person. If you read his book, you will see that he mentions additional calories for those of us that are athletic or working out and expending additional calories. Also, size matters. How many calories are you supposed to be having? You should not be hungry on his plan.

I do well all day long and have been experiencing a ravishing hunger when I get home from work. I am finding myself going through the closets and refrigerator NOT looking for fruit or veggies.

I don't recall reading anywhere that you have to eat raw or cooked veggies in separate sittings.

Day 10 and I have a question now:

Is it necessary to eat the cooked veg at a separate meal to the raw food?

I've always like a "warm salad" where some of the ingredients are hot when mixed into the salad part.

Anyone know if there is any reason why I should keep the cooked veg to a different meal than the raw stuff?
