AmyLu, I have prepared both versions and they both have the same great taste!

I made it again today, (I absolutely love this dish) on the stovetop. I rushed to the store to get the zucchini and they were $3.99 per pound. The cashier warned me after ringing them up so I got only one. It ended up being $2.00 for the one zucchini. She warned me about the cauliflower too...........almost $5.00 for one head so I used frozen.

So I added 8 oz of mushrooms that were on sale. I love zucchini so I'm sure I'll notice the missing zuke. I'll probably wished I had gone ahead and bought it, but the flavors are still there and that's what won me over. :)

Just thought I'd add that I always add raisins to this dish and it takes it over the top delicious!

I think so, AmyLu! I made the crockpot version first, as written in Robin Robertson's book, but later decided to make it on the stove. I liked them both equally.

Susan,
This is delicious! We made the slow, crockpot version and it is awesome! Does the quicker-to-cook, 20-minute, non-crockpot version of this recipe posted elsewhere on your site have the same great taste?

Susan-One week ago, I jumped in with both feet, to a Vegan lifestyle. I didn't know where to begin. I found the McDougall program, and it had a wealth of info. That linked me to two young people who had also made the plunge...and they are followers of your blog. It is rather incredible.
As a divorced man, who's on his own, with all this new stuff to learn, your recipes AND descriptions are a Godsend.
If you and your family ever get to Nashville, let me know, and I'll make an attempt to feed you guys.
My Motorcycle group passed through Jackson last year on the way to Big Bend Nat'l Park, in Texas. If I do that again, maybe you can suggest some Vegan spots along the way....hard to find, here in the South.
Regards

Thank you so much for that, Laina! I'm happy the site has been a help to you and others. This is one of the first recipes I tried to "ETL-ify" and I'm really grateful to Robin Robertson for it.

When I first found "Eat To Live," and began eating the Fuhrman way, I thought I'd never enjoy eating food again. No meat, no salt, nothing fried, and no dairy, eggs or cokes. I thought eating would only be misery for the rest of my life.

I tried some of Dr. Fuhrman's recipes and kept throwing them out. Even after trying recommendations from others, I threw out more than I ate.

Then I found your site, Susan and began trying some of your recipes. This one was one of the first, and I knew I found a gold mine.

Thanks so much for giving of yourself to help others like me to eat healthy and enjoy tasty food in the process!!!
