What part of the store do you find nutritional yeast? I have not been able to locate it at Stop and Shop or WholeFoods.

I would check the bulk bins at Whole Foods. I always buy it in bulk.

so do I, bulk bins, lots of good stuff in those. Question: what do you use to grind the almonds? I use a good coffee grinder, but I always get a very grainy meal. Or is this what you want? I like the idea of pine nuts; I’ve seen those in other recipes for cheese substitute. Tx, clare

I grind EVERYTHING in the blender, just a regular blender, although I have a Vita-Mix now. I think you want it to be a little grainy, not a powder.

I have made this with sesame seeds instead of almonds, that is good, but I think almonds are cheaper, I will have to try this.

I am a team member at Whole Foods. Nutritional yeast is usually kept in the Bulk department and is stored in large bins. Nutritional yeast is also an excellent way to get your B vitamins.

I buy my nutritional yeast @ WFM as well. I bought the Whole Foods version (which can be found in the Whole Body deartment) and NOT the one in the bulk bins as the one in the bins, at least in my store, had no B12. The WF version has 4mcg which is 70% of ones daily value.

How can you tell if the nutritional yeast in the bins have vit. B12 or not? That is pretty much all I by since it is less expensive.

Ask the store if they can show you the ingredients label on the packages they buy. They also may be able to tell you if it has B12 if you ask.

I think if you grind your own almonds this would be much more appealing if you slip the skins off the almonds. As far as I know the only way to do that is to soak them. Then I suppose you would have to let them dry out again or you would get a soggy mess. Susan? Help!

This looks like an interesting combination. I have got all the ingredients and will give it a go. It should be better nutritionally than dairy cheese. Thanks
