Winter Morning Cereal

“A cold morning comfort food. Be sure to use organic raisins. Unfortunately, grapes are one of the most contaminated crops.”
2/3 cup oats — steel cut
1/3 cup pearl barley
1/2 cup raisins, seedless — organic
1/3 cup dried fruit — dates, or others
1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
3 cups water
1 cup soy milk — or oat milk, rice milk, etc.
dash maple syrup — to taste
Bring all ingredients except syrup to a boil in a saucepan. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes, then cover.
Remove from heat and let stand for 5 minutes.
Serve and top with syrup, if desired.
