As usual, you bring together words into an insightful perspective on what I wrote that enriches it for me, too. I am happy this was a joy for you to read–it certainly was a joy for me to draw these images and write these words–and yes, I cherish the sense of freedom this place is allowing me to feel. xo

It is such a joy to catch up on posts and find this beauty. I love the idea that one might create things as a means of giving the older self signposts — what a wonderful notion. I often find the old saying true that live must be lived forward but can only be understood backward. I’m not sure if it can only be understood that way, but at the least, we’re often able to put threads together and see how we came to be where we are–and also to see that there was always meaning in the journey.

So glad you are settling into your new home and location with wonder and curiosity. And also happy to hear that the culture and way of life is giving you a kind of freedom that you didn’t have in Portland.

XO

You have taken on a sacred duty in raising your grandson. If my reflections on the moments i am able to feel peace in just existing help in that most important and good work, I am honored. May you and your family have time to just exist together in loving and simple ways. xo

This is one of those times that, while reading your minds’ thoughts of just being, I wonder if the business of my life suggests a coming sense of loss for all of the lost opportunities to just exist. We are raising our grandson now and I feel a strong sense of urgency to stop the hurrying and slow down. 🙂 Thank you for savoring each moment and sharing it.

Ellen

Reading your writing always brings me peace, and reminds me that life is unfolding as its meant too and even when things are hard to just hang on to my hat. I also loved the theme of light and reflection throughout this post!

I love what you said about being able to get a figurative and literal weight off my shoulders. I love how I learn from wonderful readers like you to see the things I write and draw again through your eyes. Priceless. xo

I’m able to see what you’re describing so vividly. The ocean indeed is magical, and I love that phrase, “always never the same.” Your pastels are beautiful – I think it captures the essence of the moment so well. I’m glad your move out to the beach has been a good one – and that you forgot your backpack! It seems you’re now able to get a figurative and literal weight off your shoulders… 🙂 xo
