I am quite happy to report that so far the toilet is running better than it ever has since I moved in. I bought an extra flapper to have on hand for when this one decides to retire. . .but for now, I am resting on my laurels! I doubt I’ll be giving home repair tutorials regularly to others, but you never know! π It’s great to hear from you. No, not on instagram. Sometimes I see it if my son shares on FB. I don’t do much on my phone. I use the computer. It’s bigger! π xo

Thu, 01 Mar 2018 01:33:09 +0000http://fatfreevegan.com/slowmiracle/?p=7357#comment-34640It’s incredible how things so far in our past still haunt us today – still hammer away at our confidence. And all the many more positive experiences can never quite drown that out. Human brains, huh… I’ve always tried to fix things myself (or with Mark) – thinking, well, if I mess it up, I’ll have to call someone anyway, so why not try to fix it first – it’s cheaper, and I’ll learn something! Though plumbing and electrical are always the “scariest” (read, most expensive and most zappy), it’s those I try to fix myself first, to help gain that confidence that I can take care of my home (not to the extent of rewiring a house, but changing a light switch/putting in a dimmer/replacing a fuse, etc).
Anyway, kudos to fixing the toilet! I hope your home repair skills continue to grow, and perhaps your social interaction will include helping others fix things – and not needing the help for yourself!
Your “Zen Chores” post is also one of my favorites – I’m pretty sure I cried a little while reading it. π xoxo
ps- sorry about my absence as of late! Just been separating a bit from certain social media (namely FB). I’m more now on Instagram (are you on that?) – “veronicadoesstuff” if you are. Just lots of photos and less words, which I’m better at!

Iβm the kind of gal that loves doing things such as this! Hope all is working well, and if it doesnβt work, replace the flap and chain! You can do it! Take care.

Please don’t pay a plumber to do that for you. What you have done already is more work than what you will need to do to replace it. You can do this.

I love knowing you are a plumber’s daughter, and can have specific appreciation of this post that way! I’m sorry to hear you are having trouble walking. I hope you can get yourself out there, one step at a time? Do you happen to like fresh ginger? I find it to be high inflammatory, and make myself tea with it, put it in my oatmeal, etc. Remember to be kind to yourself, too, and thank you for your kind words here about how my words inspire you! <3

Mon, 26 Feb 2018 18:43:50 +0000http://fatfreevegan.com/slowmiracle/?p=7357#comment-34618Oh I have been meandering over the last few months and have many of your past posts to read so I can catch up.
Delightful — Being a plumber’s daughter I can so relate — and have fixed the innards of a few old toilets myself. Isn’t it wonderful to find out how strong and resourceful we really are.
I am having walking issues myself right now and need to make some changes. I have never totally embraced the oil free, vegan style of eating — I wish I had the confidence to just do it. I was caught off guard when the last couple of years I am so stiff and my feet are bothering me — oh poor me — π I have always been very strong and athletic — I’m soon to be 75 and up until about 73 I was walking a few miles every week. Self diagnosis tells me it is inflammation as well as all of a sudden being more sedentary — I still work, so sitting at my desk doesn’t help. I tell myself that even though painful I need to force myself to start walking again — but the body is saying no right now. Your posts are always an inspiration to me — so I tell myself START MOVING GRANNY — π
