A Sneak Preview

Maria Maggi and Romeo in front of her art show at Moscow Food-Co-op

This past Monday night we hung my show at the co-op. Here is a shot of Romeo and me in front of some of my paintings.

Tonight is the night. The opening reception is from 5:45-7:00. I’m a little nervous, since there will be a lot of activity and people all at once. I was so overwhelmed that we were actually hanging the show that I didn’t get a whole lot of pictures of everything up on the wall when it was nice and quiet. But I did get a few. So before the excitement starts, here’s a sneak preview of a few of the 23 paintings on the gold wall of the Moscow Food Co-op Deli.

I’m grateful to my friend Jeanne and Co-op Volunteer Sandi for their expert help in getting my show up. And when it’s all over and I’m less nervous and all rested up, I hope to share some additional pictures with you, and an account of how it went. For now, I’ll just say Happy Valentine’s Day. I hope you’ll keep me in your heart today. I know you’ll be in mine.   Thanks for all your enthusiasm and support as I  continue to transform the anniversary of my MS diagnosis into something I can truly celebrate.

Oh, how exciting, Maria! Will your stuff still be up in mid-May? I’ll be there for my son’s graduation (and for a long over-due visit with family), and would love to see it all in person.

Thanks, Kristin! Alas, the show is only up until mid-March. But if you have time when you are in town for graduation, please contact me and maybe we can meet up. 🙂

That would be lovely! Maybe you can show me around the co-op. I moved away from the area what seems like a lifetime ago, and have only seen it in passing when visiting Moscow. I love that there’s a place like that in your previously dubbed “we-hunt-everything-Idaho”!

Congratulations!!! So exciting! Everything looks so gorgeous! I really love Tree Branch, how have I missed that one? It would make a great Christmas/Hanukkah card, too, IMHO.

Art nerd query – What made you get a double mat for just the one Votive in Geode piece? Because it’s awesome? That makes sense 🙂

It also makes sense to me that you are a little nervous, just par for the course. You are putting it out there and in person, too! Like opening night jitters. Wish I could be there, I will be in spirit!

Dude, though- what is it with you and Valentines Day? Is this like your special auspicious day or what?

xoxo

Thanks so much Nicole! The Moon, Tree Branch painting actually is the original for one of the Slow Miracle Cards, which I describe on the shop page as “seasonal.” 🙂 Art nerd query: the double mat is awesome–and awesome RELIEF–it is the serendipitous result of two mat sizing bloopers–I was praying it would work and then so happy when it also looked good! I’m glad it makes sense to you that I have the opening night jitters–it’s exactly as you say–and I know you will be there in spirit, which I really appreciate.

I don’t know, but something is up with me and Valentine’s Day. . .just going with it. xoxo

Love these Maria! I can’t wait to see more when you are up for getting more pictures. Great to see a picture of you too. I also as usual got an new idea from this post – votive in geode – makes for a gorgeous painting and bet it’s just stellar in real life too.

I am so impressed with all you can do – and still take daily naps, hehehe!

Aw, thank you, Michelle. I’m so glad you like the votive in geode– I worked hard on it over time, doing a preliminiary sketch even, andit’s one of my personal favorites. I’m hoping it finds a good home. And those daily naps fuel all this creative activity–couldn’t do it without them!! 🙂

Welcome, Cheryl, and thank you so much! It went very well, and I’m now writing a post about that. I so appreciate that you like the votive in the geode. I worked hard on it and it’s one of my favorites, too. And of course I love the moon, which is why I try to paint and draw it often. Really appreciate the positive feedback!
